Introduction to Smokefree Lancashire & Very Brief Advice (VBA) training
Do you work or volunteer in Lancashire?
You can support us to help reduce the rates of smoking prevalence across the county by joining our FREE 1-hour training session: Introduction to Smokefree Lancashire & Very Brief Advice (VBA).
VBA training teaches people how to quickly and effectively encourage people to stop smoking. It’s called “very brief” because the whole conversation
takes only a few minutes — short enough to fit naturally and easily into any contact with a service user or colleague.
The VBA model for smoking cessation is often structured as Ask, Advise, Act:
Ask – Find out if the person smokes.
Advise – Give clear, non-judgmental advice to stop smoking.
Act – Offer help (like referring to stop-smoking services or prescribing nicotine replacement therapy).
A large part of our service is to support those who want and are ready to stop smoking. We also want to deliver our VBA training to as many people
across the county as we can, including those in the voluntary sectors.
Smokefree Lancashire offers this free training resource for anyone who wants to raise awareness around our service and how you and the people
you work with can make the most of our expert help and support.
This training offer is open to anyone who works or volunteers in Lancashire (with the exception of Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool), and meets
smokers as part of their role. The session can be delivered via MS Teams or face-to-face - why not invite us along to your team meeting?
We’d love to work with you to help improve the health of our local population!
