Smokefree Scheme

What are smokefree places?

A Smokefree Place is somewhere that actively discourages or disallows smoking and encourages people to make healthier choices around smoking, with the aim of:

  • Denormalising smoking so that younger generations don’t ever start to smoke.

  • Creating healthier environments for everyone, free from the harms of secondhand smoke.

  • Helping to reduce wildlife and environmental damage from toxic cigarette litter and waste.

  • Supporting those who are trying to quit to become, and stay, smokefree.

Smokefree Families

  • People will pledge to keep their homes and cars smokefree, protecting others from the harms of second harm smoke and de-normalising smoking.

  • We will provide families with a ‘home pack’ containing lots of good stuff to encourage the person who’s quitting, as well as help them spread the word to other families.

  • We want to work with services who work with families, parents, children and young people to obtain as many pledges as we can to protect people from the harms of smoking and secondhand smoke.

Smokefree Workplaces

  • We will work with workplaces to:

  • Develop smokefree policies.

  • Promote and publicise the Smokefree Lancashire service offer.

  • Provide a workplace pack.

  • Provide staff training and educational packages.

  • Be responsive to employees’ needs in relation to stopping smoking.
