Cooking together
We were delighted recently to sponsor a fantastic event run by local charity, Sushma’s Community Cookery School.
The session was a huge success, with 17 people coming together to learn, cook and eat together.
Sushma’s focus is on reducing food waste, as well as getting people together through cooking, so the demonstration was build around foods that are often wasted and can be harmful to the environment when sent to landfill, where they produce greenhouse gases: potatoes, eggs and bananas.
The recipes included:
Banana bread made with mayonnaise
Bombay potato curry (both dry and saucy versions) using tinned potatoes as a great cupboard staple.
Egg curry served with chapati.
Sushma told us: “The session was amazing, and everyone was so engaged and interested. Many participants have already asked for more classes, which is wonderful to hear.”
